Do you know our Marine Park Rules ???

The Municipality and National Reef Park of Puerto Morelos bid you a friendly welcome and invite you to help us preserve our natural wonder.

Therefore we recommend the following:

On the beach

• Do not drive motorised vehicles (cars, four-wheelers, etc.) onto the beach. Driving and parking on the beach are not allowed.
• Do not touch or handle marine life.
• Do not litter. Put all garbage in the containers provided.
• Do not buy artifacts made from marine life. By doing so, you further their destruction.
• Respect the tranquility and peace of others. Noise bothers people and disturbs the environment.
• Help us keep our beaches clean: if you find plastic containers, fishing line, bottles without organisms attached, cigarette butts, cans or bottle tops, deposit them in garbage cans.
• Do not defecate or urinate on the beach.
• Do not buy alcoholic beverages from street vendors.
• Keep any pets on a leash and pick up their excrements.

On boat rides

• When going on boat rides, put on a life vest and ensure that the operator has communication equipment.
• Make sure that all garbage, especially light plastic containers, is securely stored.
• Take everything you brought with you, be it equipment, used batteries or bottles.

In the water

• If you are not an expert swimmer, use a swim vest for improved buoyancy.
• When swimming near the reef, it is mandatory to use marker buoys (red) and a life vest to avoid accidents.
• Do not touch, handle, chase or feed marine life.
• Do not take anything, live or dead, from the sea.
• Do not touch the corral. Even the slightest contact will damage them and, besides, some types of corral can cause injuries.
• Maintain a horizontal position while swimming near the corral.
• Move slowly and control your movements.
• The trawling of recreational equipment, like water skis, “bananas,” parachutes and the like, and the use of water jets inside the National Park are not allowed.

REMEMBER: LOOK BUT DON’T TOUCH.

Camping

• For your safety, inform the Municipal Office.
• Put all left-over food and garbage in garbage bins.
• Remember that noise disturbs your neighbors and the environment. Respect the tranquility and peace of others.

In the streets

• Don’t drive drunk.
• Respect speed limits and no-parking signs.
• The use of your safety belt is mandatory.

Help us conserve. Do not throw this pamphlet way.
